DESCRIPTION:Show Your Terry Fox Spirit on Sep 17 ! \nDear parents/guardians and staff of Sunrise\, \nOur school is continuing Terry Fox’s legacy by taking part in the Terry Fox School Run. To honor this special day\, please feel free to share the attached message with your children. \nWe thank you for joining us in the fight against cancer and continuing Terry’s legacy for generations to come. \n~~~~~~~ \nOn April 12\, 1980 Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope in St. John’s\, Newfoundland. Terry brought an empty glass bottle to a small beach in Outer Cove and filled it with Atlantic seawater. He planned to pour the jug of water into the Pacific Ocean at the end of his run\, symbolically connecting our country from coast to coast. Enthusiasm and support for Terry was growing but after 143 days\, Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay when his cancer returned to his lungs. \n41 years later\, our school is continuing Terry’s legacy by taking part in the Terry Fox School Run. Remember that we continue to walk in Terry’s footsteps\, representing everything he stood for; compassion\, courage and determination. \nTerry once said\, “Even if I don’t finish\, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going without me”. \n

DESCRIPTION:Dear Parents / Guardians\, \nRe-enrolment for the 2021-2022 school year begins February 19\, 2021. Families currently at the school will be given priority on class spaces until March 31\, 2021\, after which new families will be offered spaces. \nWe understand that this past year has been very challenging and uncertain as the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on all of us – our daily lives and on our communities. We\, at Sunrise Montessori School are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all children\, family and staff and will continue to do so. \nWith this in mind\, we would like to present our current families and any personal referrals with the first opportunity for enrolment for September 2021. We encourage parents to re-enroll promptly as spaces will not be reserved once a class has reached its intended teacher-student ratio. SUMMARY:2020 Year End Updates from Premier of Ontario
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, December 21\, the Premier of Ontario announced Safer at Home Restrictions for the next 28 days and ordered a range of time-limited public health actions to help curb the spread of COVID-19. One such action is\, starting December 26\, 2020\, all elementary schools\, publicly-funded and private\, will be closed for in person learning. Students enrolled in publicly-funded schools will move to virtual learning for the week of January 4 to January 8. \nSchool will resume on the January 11\, 2021 for the private school section (JK/SK and Elementary). \nDue to the above directive\, we will be conducting the virtual learning program from January 4 – January 8\, 2021 for the JK/SK and the Elementary program. Our teachers will be contacting you directly to initiate this. Private school (JK/SK and Elementary classrooms) will resume in-class learning on January 11\, 2021. \nHowever Child care will remain open for the duration of these time-limited public health actions. SUMMARY:Diwali Celebration (Nov 13)
DESCRIPTION:‘Diwali ki Shubhkamnayein‘ or ‘Shush Deepavali‘. These both mean Happy Diwali in Hindi. \nDiwali is the five-day festival of lights\, celebrated by millions of Hindus\, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali\, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations\, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil\, and light over darkness. \nEven though Diwali/Deepavali falls on Saturday\, November 14\, 2020\, we will celebrate it on Friday\, November 13\, 2020 by way of encouraging our students to be dressed in their traditional costume. \n
