The Rat is the first sign from the 12 animals cycle of the Chinese Astrology\, which symbolizes a new cycle. Within the Chinese culture\, it is the most important celebration\, an occasion for familiar reunion and party. \nSunrise will celebrate on the Thursday\, January 23rd\, 2020 for JK/SK\, SENIOR CASA & ELEMENTARY \nAll Classes will make arrangements to have their own class party. Parents can bring in New Year goodies and other foods. SUMMARY:Jump Rope for Heart Assembly
DESCRIPTION:The Heart and Stroke Foundation wants to involve one million student skippers in its Jump Rope for Heart program this year. Last year\, students in over 4\,000 schools across Canada\, totalling 955\,000 students\, took part in Jump Rope for Heart events. \nThis year the aim is to try to have one million students involved. Students will now be canvassing friends and family to collect monetary pledges before the school’s Jump Rope for Heart event coming up on Friday\, February 7\, 2020. At the kick off assembly\, Ms Sarah Taylor\, will show a video about Jump Rope for Heart. The program has raised over $10 million for the Heart and Stroke Foundation over the past 30 years. \nThe children will be skipping and doing Jump Rope for Heart activities such as other beneficial physical activity and also are a way of helping others by raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation which works to combat heart disease and stroke. Funds raised in the Jump Rope for Heart event go to help research into heart disease and also go to provide defibrillators for public spaces. \nWhat is the purpose of Jump Rope for Heart? \nJump Rope for Heart is a fundraising and physical activity program based around skipping. It teaches school aged children how to keep fit and healthy\, all while having fun and raising vital funds for heart disease research and education. Students learn to protect their heart and brain health\, the importance of helping others and get active by skipping rope while raising funds for Heart & Stroke. \nIs jump rope a good cardio workout? \nSkipping rope is one of the most effective cardio exercises around. 10 minutes of rope is about 30 minutes of jogging. \nClick here for Heart and Stroke website to learn more. \n

DESCRIPTION:DRESS CODE POLICY FOR ALL STUDENTS \nIncludes Toddler\, Casa\, JK/SK & Elementary (except the Infant Program) \nThe purpose of Sunrise Montessori School Dress Code Policy is to clearly define acceptable student attire. The objective of the policy is to promote an atmosphere for academic success and confidence building within a prepared environment. We ask of parents/guardians and friend of the school community to help maintain an orderly school environment and to respect the policies of our school. As our goal is to maintain attire consistency\, we require parental commitment and support for the success of this policy. \nIt is mandatory for all students to be wearing the official SMS uniform during official school hours including field trips. Field Trips are applicable only to Casa & Elementary students. SUMMARY:Observe Parking & Traffic Laws
DESCRIPTION:Parking at Surrounding Offices \nAll parents are to refrain from parking at any other neighboring companies\, especially at Portserv International Ltd located at 201 Amber Street. Cars from Sunrise parents parked in their premises will be subject to tow and tagged at the owner’s expense. \nAs per their letter to our school\, which I will quote “Our company cannot expose itself to liability issues that may result from an incident caused by your patron however microscopic the probability of its occurrence”. \nPlease note that there is a tow truck stationed at that company to execute the above. \nObserve Traffic Laws \nThe speed limit in our parking lot is 20 km/h. Please drive slowly and DO NOT drive against the traffic. Laws are in full effect for handicapped spaces. Violators are subject to a fine by the York Region Police Department. Come to a complete stop at stop signs and yield to traffic with right-of-way.
