DESCRIPTION:‘Diwali ki Shubhkamnayein‘ or ‘Shush Deepavali‘. These both mean Happy Diwali in Hindi. \nDiwali is the five-day festival of lights\, celebrated by millions of Hindus\, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali\, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations\, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil\, and light over darkness. \nEven though Diwali/Deepavali falls on Saturday\, November 14\, 2020\, we will celebrate it on Friday\, November 13\, 2020 by way of encouraging our students to be dressed in their traditional costume. \n

SUMMARY:Terry Fox National School Run (Sep 21)
DESCRIPTION:The attire for this event is the green T-shirt for CASA students and above. The toddlers may opt to purchase the green T-shirt at $18 each or to wear the pink T-shirt.  \n****** \nOn April 12\, 1980\, Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope in St. John’s\, Newfoundland. Terry brought an empty glass bottle to a small beach in Outer Cove and filled it with Atlantic seawater. He planned to pour the jug of water into the Pacific Ocean at the end of his run\, symbolically connecting our country from coast to coast. Enthusiasm and support for Terry was growing but after 143 days\, Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay when his cancer returned to his lungs. \n40 years later\, our school is continuing Terry’s legacy by taking part in the Terry Fox School Run. Remember that we continue to walk in Terry’s footsteps\, representing everything he stood for; compassion\, courage and determination. \nTerry once said\, “Even if I don’t finish\, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going without me”. \nWe thank you for joining us in the fight against cancer and continuing Terry’s legacy for generations to come. \n
