SUMMARY:2020 Year End Updates from Premier of Ontario
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, December 21\, the Premier of Ontario announced Safer at Home Restrictions for the next 28 days and ordered a range of time-limited public health actions to help curb the spread of COVID-19. One such action is\, starting December 26\, 2020\, all elementary schools\, publicly-funded and private\, will be closed for in person learning. Students enrolled in publicly-funded schools will move to virtual learning for the week of January 4 to January 8. \nSchool will resume on the January 11\, 2021 for the private school section (JK/SK and Elementary). \nDue to the above directive\, we will be conducting the virtual learning program from January 4 – January 8\, 2021 for the JK/SK and the Elementary program. Our teachers will be contacting you directly to initiate this. Private school (JK/SK and Elementary classrooms) will resume in-class learning on January 11\, 2021. \nHowever Child care will remain open for the duration of these time-limited public health actions. DESCRIPTION:‘Diwali ki Shubhkamnayein‘ or ‘Shush Deepavali‘. These both mean Happy Diwali in Hindi. \nDiwali is the five-day festival of lights\, celebrated by millions of Hindus\, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali\, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations\, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil\, and light over darkness. \nEven though Diwali/Deepavali falls on Saturday\, November 14\, 2020\, we will celebrate it on Friday\, November 13\, 2020 by way of encouraging our students to be dressed in their traditional costume. \n

All the Halloween artwork and handicrafts created by our JK/SK\, French Immersion and the Elementary students will be displayed on designated tables/areas for all parents to enjoy. \nParents from the different classrooms are invited to come and join in the fun. Albeit to appreciate your child’s handiwork or to capture the precious moments of the individual classroom parade at the outdoor playground. SUMMARY:Terry Fox National School Run (Sep 21)
DESCRIPTION:The attire for this event is the green T-shirt for CASA students and above. The toddlers may opt to purchase the green T-shirt at $18 each or to wear the pink T-shirt.  \n****** \nOn April 12\, 1980\, Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope in St. John’s\, Newfoundland. Terry brought an empty glass bottle to a small beach in Outer Cove and filled it with Atlantic seawater. He planned to pour the jug of water into the Pacific Ocean at the end of his run\, symbolically connecting our country from coast to coast. Enthusiasm and support for Terry was growing but after 143 days\, Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay when his cancer returned to his lungs. \n40 years later\, our school is continuing Terry’s legacy by taking part in the Terry Fox School Run. Remember that we continue to walk in Terry’s footsteps\, representing everything he stood for; compassion\, courage and determination. \nTerry once said\, “Even if I don’t finish\, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going without me”. \nWe thank you for joining us in the fight against cancer and continuing Terry’s legacy for generations to come. \n
